Clark County Business License Department Temporarily Suspends Collecting Certain Business License Penalties and Fees

Clark County Business License has announced that it is temporarily suspending late penalties and fees and other disciplinary actions for Clark County businesses while the community deals with the impacts of the Coronavirus.

Specifically, the following actions will be taken:

1. Penalties and late fees will not be assessed on business licenses that become due during April, May or June 2020 (this may be extended);

2. The state of the business license will not changed to “Delinquent” for license fees that become due during April, May or June 2020 (this may be extended);

3. Collaborate with business owners to allow payment plans for renewal fees; and

4. No disciplinary action for business license fee payment submitted after the due date.

The Business License Department advised that they would be willing to work with different licensees, including liquor licensees, to determine other payment options for businesses experiencing hardships.

For avoidance of doubt, license fees are still due at the same times, but businesses will not be penalized for late payments during April – June. If a business is truly unable to pay the full license fees, the agency is willing to work with the business to determine a payment plan that may include a temporary reduction in license costs. For example, a business with multiple bars, may only need to pay the license fees for 1 bar during this period.
